GSP RushFit Fitness Assesment : Georges St Pierre

What is the Rushfit Fitness assessment?  Just a glimpse of what shape you’re in before you start your Rushfit camp.  Members of the Rushfit community will be glad to see how they stack against GSP in “regular” exercises like push ups and sit ups.  This looks easier than it actually is.

Notice how GSP’s body is moving completely in tune, he’s putting all his energy into every repetition of what he is doing.  This is why he gets tired quickly… or he might just be doing that to make you feel like you’re not in THAT bad of a shape?  Either way, here’s a video of GSP getting down with it.

I have to agree, it does look he’s cheating in some of these exercises, but he is working out no doubt about it.   Try it out, you’ll feel the burn.

Here’s the basic structure of the whole thing:

  1.  Start it off with as many Squats as you can for a full 60 seconds ( a timer will come in handy if you’re just reading this off the blog)
  2. Rest for 20 seconds
  3. Continue with as many Push-ups as you can muster for another 60 seconds
  4. Rest for 20 seconds
  5. Now go for as many Sit-ups as you can perform for yet another 60 seconds
  6. Rest for 20 seconds
  7. Go for 60 seconds of Burpees (explained below)
  8. If you were so exicited that you wanted to do this whole thing again rest for 20 seconds and restart it

In case you didn’t catch it the burpee is the exercise where GSP is jumping up.  There are actually 5 steps to the burpee.  Here’s what the exercise is composed of.

Step 1.  Stand Up

Step 2.  Go down for a Squat

Step 3.  Mule kick yourself into a push up position

Step 4. Straighten up your arms and return to squat position

Step 5.  Raise your arms up as you leap up into the air.

Burpees generally are a pain in the a**, and especially here in the workout, after you’ve been doing some push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.  Not to mention it sounds stupid.  I mean common, “Burpee” who’s coming up with these freakin names.

Anyhow, this being an assessment and all, you should write down your results.  Write down the exercises and how many reps you were able to do for times allotted.  Be sure to take into account other factors such as how you felt right before performing the assessment.  This way if you do badly you can rationalize it as being because you weren’t feeling that great to begin with :)  Actually that’s not the way champions roll.  They take the truth and then they make it better.

So hey, lets say you totally blow it and you are only able to do a little bit of each exercise, I say you go for it and complete the 8 week training camp anyway.  By the end of those 8 Rushfit weeks your sorry a** will definitely be able to smoke your previous assessment.  If you had doubts about yourself in the past, it’s a great day to put them aside and start training like a champ with Georges St Pierre and get in champion shape.
